Hi, I’m Javier — a solopreneur building from Chile.

Like a lot of freelancers, I didn’t set out to become a “software person.” I set out to do the work I’m good at and get paid for it. But somewhere along the way I realized that the tools I chose were quietly deciding how much I earned, how professional I looked, and how many evenings I lost to admin.

I run everything myself, from Chile — and not just this site. Over the last few years I’ve built and shipped a handful of small products and tools solo, including MyChessPlan, Polybot, MiTarjetaHoy and SEO Automation Club. So I’m not reviewing this software from the outside: I’m choosing it, paying for it, and running real projects on it every single week.

SoloKit HQ is where I write it all down.

Why I started this site

I got tired of “best tools for freelancers” articles that were obviously written by someone who had never opened the software. They’d list twelve options, rank them in a suspiciously convenient order, and never once mention the things that actually matter to a solo business owner — like per-seat pricing that punishes you for being a team of one, transaction fees that skim your income, or a slick tool that only works if you’re based in the US.

So I decided to write the reviews I wish I’d been able to read: honest, specific, and grounded in real use.

How I test and recommend tools

Here’s my promise to you:

  • I use the tools. Where a screenshot shows a product in action, I’ll tell you whether it’s my own account or the vendor’s marketing material. I don’t pretend.
  • I check the current price. Software pricing changes constantly. I verify pricing before I publish and flag anything you should double-check yourself.
  • I tell you who a tool is not for. Every review includes a “who should skip this” section, because the wrong tool for you is the wrong tool no matter how good it is.
  • I keep the money in view. The point of good software isn’t features — it’s getting paid faster, looking more professional, and spending less. That’s the lens I use.
